We have lots going on for Children and Young People at St John's
Children are always welcome in Church. We have a dedicated children's area at the back of church, where you are welcome to sit with your child, or where children can play safely. This area is unsupervised, but occasionally our children's group "Footsteps!" meet next to this area on a Sunday morning.

Babies & Toddler Groups
Baby and Toddler Group
This group is for under 5’s and is for the baby or toddler with their parent or carer. The group provides fun, crafts, singing, and entertainment for children and their carers. It involves a small element of worship with for example a song thanking God and will have some services to mark poignant occasions, i.e. Harvest, Advent, Easter.
The Toddler Group is run in the Parish Centre during school term time, on Thursdays from 10am to 11.30am.
Groups are run by church volunteers and parents who are DBS checked.
The cost is £1 per child and 50p for every extra child.
For information about available spaces, contact the Parish Office.
If you would like more information please contact Claire Webber on 0114 230 1199 or email@example.com

Here is some information about what happened at Christmas in 2020 here at St John's:
Our Christingle Service took place with so many families joining us and that was lovely to see. We also were delighted to have our choristers singing today in Church which was the first time since spring they have been in the stalls. A delight to hear. Well Done! Also, well done to our children who read the readings so beautifully during the service and helped with the prayers. A lovely service in aid of the children's society. Click here to listen to the choristers sing Away in A Manger.
Some pictures of our Christingle Service on Sunday 6th.
The Advent Wreath is a Christian tradition. The Advent Wreath is usually made from evergreen plants and four candles. Each candle is lit on one of the four Sundays leading up to Christmas. Many Advent Wreaths include a fifth candle as well that is lit on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day
Please download the activities here about the advent wreath:
COMPETITION TIME Blank candle for you to colour - please print this out and send it back to us so we can display it in the Parish Centre Windows or display it on the website.
